The answer is no. The quality of the video depends on the source file and the conversion of the media. For example if you purchase the video from an online source such as iTunes or Zune Market place the video will be high quality. If you get it off a DVD or something like that it depends on the conversion software you use and what settings you put it on.

The small screen is really not an issue when you are on the go. In time you will no longer realize it is an issue. Of course when you get home you can always hook it up to a large tv via a dock.

Example: When you are on the go or commuting you can watch a movie and the time will pass quickly. You might have some one next to you looking over your shoulder trying to catch a view as well.

When you get home you might opt to watch another movie but on a larger screen so you pop the zune in the dock get your remote and play your movie at your leisure. Well that is what I do.

The size of the screen is not a big deal .....in time you forget about it when you are mobile. Of course there are variables with the quality of the video - it is not because the screen is so small it depends on the quality of the video prior to and the conversion process / settings.
